国际奥委会已经制定了一个通用的奥运会组委会职能部门系列表，这个职能部门系列表是按照奥运会的功能而不是按照组织结构制定的，不是为了代替或规定奥运会组委会的组织结构，而是一种用于比对过去和现在的奥运会组委会的职能的方法。
Functional Areas
The IOC has developed a generic listing of Functional Areas, which are based on Games 'functions' rather than on an organisational structure. The Functional Areas are not meant to replace or prescribe an organisation structure, but to provide a means for comparing similar functions across multiple OCOGs, present and past.

Secteur fonctionnel (ou fonction)
Le CIO a établi une liste générique de secteurs fonctionnels reposant sur des "fonctions" des Jeux plutôt que sur une structure organisationnelle. Les secteurs fonctionnels n’ont pas pour vocation de remplacer ou d’imposer une structure d’organisation, mais de fournir une méthode de comparaison de fonctions similaires entre plusieurs COJO, actuels et antérieurs.
